Majestic Theatre

Majestic Theater neon sign at night with cars and a scooter in front, announcing Moulin Rouge musical.

The Majestic Theatre in San Antonio stands as a crown jewel of historic elegance and entertainment—but its rich history is shadowed by tragedy. Over the decades, countless performers—actors, dancers, and stagehands—have graced its stage, but not all curtain calls ended in applause. Some suffered fatal accidents during performances or backstage, and some believe their spirits remain, forever tied to the grandeur and drama of the Majestic. Guests and staff have reported mysterious footsteps, cold drafts, and glimpses of shadowy figures in the wings.

But perhaps the most chilling tale is one not tied to the stage at all. Years ago, in the building above the theater a woman tragically fell from the ornate window of a top-floor apartment while in a heated argument with her fiance. The fatal fall ended when her body struck a railing just outside the side of the Majestic. The impact of her body actually dented a railing near the Majestic marquis. Recently, during San Antonio’s Ultimate Ghost and Murder Walk, a guest snapped a photo of that very spot of impact—hoping to capture some of the theater’s eerie energy. What the photo captured, completely by accident in a background window, may be the most spectacular paranormal photograph ever taken at the Majestic: a ghostly face, peering through a window from above.

Who was this ghostly image seemingly eavesdropping on our tour that night? Although questions abound, the image is unmistakable.

Join us and see the photo for yourself—along with other stunning evidence of the supernatural—on Walking Tours of San Antonio. This unforgettable experience blends dark history with chilling encounters you won’t soon forget.
